The mission of the Michigan Trucking Association (MTA) is to serve the interests of the trucking industry; enhance the industry's image, efficiency, productivity and competitiveness; promote highway safety; provide educational programs; and work for a healthy business environment. As a statewide, full-service trade association, the Michigan Trucking Association has promoted the interests of Michigan motor carriers since its inception.


The Michigan Trucking Association was founded in 1934, to serve the needs of the trucking industry in the state of Michigan. The MTA hosts the Michigan Center for Decisive Driving, a course offered at the Eaton Corporation Proving Grounds in Marshall, Michigan. The MTA hosts an annual Truck Expo and Safety Symposium in February. Members of the Michigan Trucking Association participate in the Michigan state Truck Driving Championships. The 2009 winners are Robert Grant, Grand Champion, of Spartan Stores; James Bishop, Pre-Trip Inspection, of Con-Way Freight; and Robert Sikes, Rookie of the Year, of Fed Ex Freight.
