Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association Logo

The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA) is an international trade association of nearly 1,300 member companies from 43 nations. Members are involved in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting, crane and rigging operations, manufacturing and rental. With a host of products, publications and services, including safety, technical and reference materials, SC&RA is a vital source of information for an ever-changing industry. Updated materials keep members and the industry abreast of current perspectives and emerging trends.


SC&RA Groups


Allied Industries Group –This is made up of the providers of services and products for other SC&RA members. They attend the major meetings to network with customers.
Crane & Rigging Group – rigging, crane rental and millwright work. They cover regulations and standards, labor relation and safety legislation; permit policies and procedures for transporting cranes; technology and equipment trends; litigation management, accident investigation, and loss prevention.
Ladies Group – Focuses mainly on the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association Foundation, providing scholarships to students, and funding industry-related research.
Transportation Group – This group focuses on special interest areas such as federal regulations, regional permitting, and litigation. Hours-of-service, load securement, on-board recorders, anti-terrorism, pilot car best practices, and the like are covered.


Publications


The SC&RA publishes International Cranes & Specialized Transport, and the American Cranes & Transport. It also publishes weekly newsletter and special reports.


Awards


Rigging Jobs of the Year Award – This went to Fagioli SPA, S. Ilario D'Enza, Italy for the first offshore liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in the world; another to Process Group, Inc., Cambridge, Ontario Canada for a 17'x60' Ball mill weighing approximately 920,000 pounds; and the third to Bechtel Equipment Operations, Milwaukee, WI for installing pumps at the Oak Creek Power Plant in Wisconsin.


Hauling Jobs of the Year Award – These went to Barnhart in Memphis TN for moving two 5.6 million pound (!) Electrostatic Precipitator modules; Energy Transportations Inc. of Casper, WY moved three dehydrators measuring 16'x45' and weighing 450,000 pounds each over 300 miles of mountainous terrain; and finally, Tradelossa Heavy Haul & Rigging of Monterrey, Mexico for hauling four large vessels over mountainous terrain for Praxair. Golden Achievement Award – This year it went posthumously to George M. Bragg, President of Bragg Crane Service, Long Beach, CA


Driver of the Year Award – Went to Rudy Moreno of Anderson Trucking Service, Inc.
